Now, a silly story…when we first looked at the land it was littered with a bunch of junk. There was an old broken down tractor, a rusty swing set, a cattle chute, an old tire being used as a planter, and a few other things. Some of the items we were okay with, but some we didn’t want to deal with so we we made our offer, we asked that they remove some of the items.

Cattle chute and old barn

After we closed and took the girls to see “our land” we noticed the oddest thing. The previous owner had removed the gate from the fence to the backyard! WHY in the world would he have torn the gate down?

When we told the owner to remove some of the junk, one of the things we listed was the “cattle gate”. We hadn’t even realized that the wooden gate to the privacy fence was attached to a cattle gate. We meant that we wanted the cattle chute removed…and he did remove the cattle chute, but he also removed the cattle GATE. I mean, we had asked that the cattle GATE be removed, but…OOPS!

Until the demolition of the house, we just propped up the pieces of the wooden fence gate to make it look a little more off limits!
