January 13th was an exciting day! Finally, a few things happened on the land! We had no idea how quickly a house could be knocked down. The demolition was mostly finished in about six hours and the rubble was loaded up and carted off the next day.

Down goes the chimney!

We only had to remove two trees, one was in the former backyard and the other was a huge evergreen tree that was standing right where our house will be built. It’s great that we didn’t want that one to stay because Tom said he tapped it with one of his machines and it basically fell over!

…and the house is down, too!

The girls asked to bring pencils and paper so they could sketch the demolition.

With the house torn down, they back-filled the stem walls of the old house and the hole where the old septic tank had been. This made the land an almost blank slate so we can begin moving forward.
